Selected as the 2018 NSW Young Australian of the Year, Macinley Butson is a 19 year old inventor from the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW.
Her science endeavours have seen her recognised with awards, while she continues to work with people speaking at events and inspiring all age groups.
She still avidly pursues her projects, aiming to help society and improve outcomes in life for everyone in need.

As she grew, so too did her passion for science and engineering.
She began to undergo many science experiments which were the start of her inventing future.
One of these saw the creation of the SMART Armour, a device for Radiotherapy Breast Cancer patients.
It shields the breast which is not being treated from excess radiation which is received during external Radiotherapy.
